On July 1, 1936, Sam Carey founded a modest lumber business with the aid of a long delayed World War I bonus check for $1,200. The company had a simple objective – provide quality service with a quality product.
In 1999, Patrick Carey retired and entrusted his father’s company to two long tenured employees, John Sandor and Jim Black. And to this very day, we are still stalwart supporters of Sam Carey’s objective. By having our sales offices in Memphis, Tennessee, “the hardwood capital of the world,” and our facilities in Cairo, Illinois, we are able to preserve our strong presence in the hardwood lumber industry while being able to supply over 6,000,000 feet of the finest quality Appalachian hardwoods from Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, and Tennessee.

    custom milling services, including straight line ripping (SLR1E) and finish surfacing.
  • For today’s demanding hardwood users, special lengths, widths, and mixed loads are available.
  • Sam Carey also furnishes rift and quartered
    Red Oak, White Oak, and Ash in thicknesses from 4/4 through 8/4.
  • For your convenience, each of our packages are individually tallied and export prepped.
  • We welcome flatbed or container loading.
